Service Opportunities with Whitehaven Kiwanis
Ronald McDonald House
Members come together to provide a wholesome and nourishing breakfast for the families and children who are receiving treatment from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Methodist LeBonheur Children’s Medicals Center.
COMEC
We support the Commission on Missing and Exploited Children program by collecting money weekly. COMEC sponsors a booth at the Mid-South Fair that provides photo ID’s of missing children.
“Be Kind” Program
Kiwanis sponsors a program that promotes respect, courtesy, and kindness for mankind. The program is held on the campuses of middle and high schools in the Whitehaven area. Motivational speakers are invited to the event to help inspire students and provide positive role modeling to the youth of the community.
Whitehaven High School Key Club
We sponsor a Key Club at Whitehaven High School to involve teenagers in the high school level of Kiwanis. Key Club provides opportunities for leadership and community involvement for the youth of Whitehaven.
Community Philanthropy
Each year our organization donates to the Angel Tree Program sponsored by Methodist South Hospital to ensure a fulfilling Christmas for children in our community. We also contribute canned food donations to MIFA throughout the year to help feed the hungry members of our society who need immediate assistance.
Whitehaven Christmas Parade
Whitehaven Kiwanis Club participates in the annual Whitehaven Christmas Parade every year to celebrate the season with our community.
Whitehaven Kiwanis “Pancake Day”
Every spring, we host a Saturday morning pancake breakfast to raise money for our organization’s service budget fund. This is our biggest annual fundraiser to raise funds for our volunteer projects and to fulfill our service mission to serve the children of the world. Members sell tickets to the event, set up the event, cook and serve supporters, and clean up at the end of the day. Pancake Day is a great, fun event to show our supporters our appreciation, network and socialize with members of the community, and achieve our overall financial needs.
Miscellaneous Projects
Several members of the Whitehaven Kiwanis Club are involved in multiple service outlets within the community. Some members volunteer their time and service at the National Civil Rights Museum or provide mentorship at Hillcrest High School. Our organization is a great way to meet like-minded individuals who want to dedicate their time to meaningful causes in the community.
